WAyodeji Ibrahim Balogun popularly known as Wizkid is a Nigerian musician, songwriter, recording artiste, stage performer and model. He was born on the 16th of July, 1990 in Surulere area of Lagos. The 28 year old is one of the greatest musicians ever to emerge from Nigeria. He started his music career at the age of 11 when he became involved in his local church choir. He later formed his own music group which he called the “Glorious Five”. His parents were initially skeptical about his chosen career path as music those days was not seen as a viable profession. Wizkid remained undeterred and forged ahead despite protests from his parents. He quickly rose to the top of his chosen career propelled by his talent. 2010 was the year that he finally arrived on the music scene in Nigeria and he hasn’t looked back ever since. Wizkid was born to a Muslim father and a Christian mother. He was raised in a polygamous family as his father has three wives. The young Ibrahim chose to follow his mother to church and began singing in his church choir at the young age of 11 years. It was while he was in his church choir that his vocal prowess was identified. He became the lead singer in the church choir. While still in the church choir, he began to set himself up for a career in the music industry as he produced an album. He alongside 4 of his friends from church formed a music group called “Glorious Five”. Ayo Balogun recorded his first album, a 7 track album under the name “Lil Prinz”. He has featured on a track with famous names such as 2Face Idibia, Naeto C, Sound Sultan, award-winning producer OJB, Drake, Chris Brown, Trey Songz, French Montana, Kranium, Ty Dolla $ign etc. In 2016, Wizkid became the first Nigerian artiste to feature on Billboard’s Twitter Last 24 hours chart following his guest feature on Drake’s afrobeat-infused One Dance single, which also debuted at number 21 on the Billboard Hot 100 chart. The song peaked at number one on the Billboard Hot 100 chart by the month of May same year and maintained that position for 10 non-consecutive weeks. The One Dance song also became an international hit, topping charts in at least 15 different countries, including the United Kingdom, Canada, Australia, France, and Germany. His second son is named Ayodeji Balogun, he was born by Binta Diallo in 2016. Once again Wizkid requested a paternity test before he eventually accepted the boy as his son. The birth of his third son named Zion Ayo Balogun in 2017 didn’t create much issues as he quickly accepted the boy as his son. Baby Zion’s mother is Jada Pollock who is also Wizkid’s manager. Jada Pollock is a brand consultant from Great Britain who used to work with the likes of Chris Brown and Pia Mia before she started the same consultancy work with Starboy. The association between the two began in 2014 and by 2017, they were already having an intimate affair leading to the birth of baby Zion in November 2017.
