Mavin Records, also known as Supreme Mavin Dynasty (SMD) is owned by none other then award winning music producer, Don Jazzy.
Following the collapse of Mo’Hits Records which Don Jazzy founded alongside D’banj, he set up Mavin in May 2012. The label parades a lot of established and upcoming acts. D’prince, Dr Sid, Korede Bello, Johnny Drille, DNA Twins, Crayon and Rhema are some of the artists currently on the books of the label.
Mavin used to house heavyweights like Tiwa Savage and Reekado Banks but they have since moved on.
Davido Music Worldwide (DMW)
Owned by the sensational musician Davido, DMW is no doubt one of the top music labels in Nigeria presently.
Davido, also known as O.B.O is one of the biggest artistes in Africa as of today. He set up DMW in 2016 after quitting “HKN” which he confounded with his brother.
The label is home to a number of budding artists and established acts such as Davido himself, Idowest, Dj Ecool, Yonda, Ichaba, Dremo, Perruzi, and Mayorkun.
The DMW platform is huge and chances of succeeding at the label are very high. Mayorkun is a good example as he won the highly coveted next rated award at the 2018 edition of the Headies.
The legendary Wizkid who is no doubt one of Africa’s greatest music exports also has his own record label. The label is called StarBoy Entertainment.
The biggest name on the books of the label is Wizkid himself but he has some young talents like Terri under his wing. Also signed to the label is Legendury Beatz (Uzezi & Okiemute Oniko), while Mr Eazi, Efya and R2bees have management deals with the label.
L.A.X who is now well grounded in the industry was once signed to the label too.
YBNL is owned by indigenous rapper, Olamide Adedeji popularly known as Olamide Badoo. He is regarded by some as one of the greatest rappers in Nigeria.
The road to stardom for Olamide was not smooth which is why he decided to set up a record label to help foster the younger ones.
YBNL which is acronym for Yahoo Boy No Laptop was created in 2013. The label is giving a voice to artists from the streets who previously could not push their music to the mainstream.

Chocolate City was at a time the biggest record label in the country. It paraded an array of stars that transformed hip-hop music in Nigeria.
The Choc Boyz as they were called then are MI Abaga, Jesse Jagz, Ice Prince, and Brymo. Only MI is left at the label now and he doubles a both an artiste and as President of the music arm of the company.
Currently, the label has Dice Ailes and Victoria Kimani from Kenya as its top stars.
This is one of the oldest record labels in the country. It was founded in 1998 by popular Nigerian radio DJ Kenny Ogungbe.
The label was at a time the biggest in the country. It is credited for turning out the likes of 2Baba, OJB Jezreel, Eedris Abdul Kareem, Tony Tetuila and Sound Sultan into stars.

Five Star Music
Five Star Music is owned by billionaire businessman Emeka Okonkwo who is popularly known as E-money. E-money is the brother of top music artiste, Kcee.
The label has its office in Lagos and began operations in 2010. The label is currently experiencing a downturn as most of its biggest stars have left for one reason or another.
The record label has only Kcee left as its established act. The likes of Harrysong, Soso Soberekon and Skibii used to be signed to Five Star Music.
Dr Dolor Entertainment
Dr Dolor Entertainment is owned by Osadolar Nate Asemota who is popularly known as Dr Dolor. He is a businessman and ardent music lover.
He set up Dr Dolor Entertainment, a record label and music distribution company to help facilitate further growth and development of the music industry in Nigeria.
The first artiste signed to the label is Ryna Omo. Other artistes on the books of the label include Diva Vanilla, and Teniola Apata also known Teni who is no doubt the biggest name in the label.
Dem Mama Records
The record label is owned by dance hall king, Timaya. It was founded in the year 2015.
The label led by Timaya has produced several hit songs. King Perry is one artiste signed to the label.
Grafton Entertainment also called Grafton Records, is an artiste management company and record label. It has two headquarters, one in the United Kingdom and the other in Nigeria.
It was set up 2004 by Rivers State born Tonye Ibiama. The first artists to join the label’s roster were De Indispensables Lenny B and Tick Lips, while the second batch of artists included M Trill, who left the label in 2010.
Currently, Grafton’s most successful artist is the waterside boy – Mr. 2Kay. His hit songs include Bad Girl Special and Run This Town.
