Sheikh Mansour bin Zayed Al Nahyan is the current deputy prime minister of the United Arab Emirates. He is also the minister of presidential affairs for Abu Dhabi and a member of the Abu Dhabi royal family.

Biography of Sheikh Mansour
Sheikh Mansour bin Zayed Al Nahyan was born on the 20th of November, 1970. He is the 5th son of the Emir of Abu Dhabi, HH Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan. His mother is called Sheikha Fatima bint Mubarak Al Ketbi.
Sheikh Mansour attended Santa Barbara Community College as an English student in the year 1989 and graduated from the United Arab Emirates University where he bagged a bachelor’s degree in international affairs in 1993.
Sheikh Mansour’s Family
Sheikh Mansour currently has two wives and a total of six children. His first wife is Sheikha Alia bint Mohammed bin Butti Al Hamed whom he married in the mid-1990s. She gave birth to a son named Zayed.
In 2005, Sheikh Mansour married Manal bint Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum. She is the daughter of the ruler of Dubai, Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum. The marriage is blessed with 5 children, two daughters and three sons.
The children are: Fatima who was born in 2006, Mohammed who was born the following year, Hamdan who came in 2011, Latifa in 2014, and lastly, Rashid who was born in 2017.
Sheikh Mansour’s Political Career
Sheikh Mansour’s political career began in 1997 when he was appointed chairman of the presidential office. That appointment came courtesy of his father Zayed II who was the sitting President of the UAE. It is important to state that his father, Zayed II is the first President of the UAE but he died in 2004 and was succeeded by his son, Khalifa II who is Sheikh Mansour’s half brother.
Khalifa II, Sheikh Mansour’s eldest half brother then appointed him as first minister of presidential affairs of the United Arab Emirates, which is the merger of the presidential office and the presidential court.
Sheikh Mansour has also served in a number of key positions in Abu Dhabi to support his brother, Crown Prince Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan.
He was appointed as chairman of the ministerial council for services, which is considered a ministerial entity attached to the Cabinet, comprising a number of ministers heading the services departments.
He has chaired the National Center for Documentation and Research since the year 2000. Following a cabinet reshuffle in 2004, he became minister for presidential affairs.
The following year (2005), he became the deputy chairman of the Abu Dhabi education council (ADEC), chairman of the Emirates Foundation, Abu Dhabi Food Control Authority, and Abu Dhabi Fund for Development. He was appointed chairman of the Abu Dhabi Judicial Department in 2006 and in 2007, he was appointed chairman of Khalifa bin Zayed Charity Foundation.
Sheikh Mansour served as the chairman of First Gulf Bank until 2006, and also as a member of the board of trustees of the Zayed charitable and humanitarian foundation.
He is also the chairman of the Emirates horse racing authority (EHRA). He became deputy prime minister on the 11th of May 2009, while also retaining his cabinet post of minister of presidential affairs.
Businesses And Investments
Sheikh Mansour is known famously as the owner of Manchester City football club, one of the teams competing in England’s football top-flight. He acquired the football club in September 2008 through the privately held Abu Dhabi United Group (ADUG), a specialist investment company.
He immediately handed all responsibility and ownership of the club to Khaldoon Al Mubarak and the City Football Group. Since acquiring Manchester city, he has been able to transform the football club into one of the best in Europe, while City’s domination of the English game is not in doubt.
The club has won the title in England four times since it was bought by Sheikh Mansour. Sheikh Mansour also holds a majority stake in Major League Soccer franchise, New York City FC which began play in the 2015 season.
Melbourne City F.C is the third football club owned by Mansour, all under the City Football Group. Sheikh Mansour is also the chairman of Al Jazira sports company which operates soccer, handball, volleyball and basketball teams in Abu Dhabi.
Outside sports, he owns stakes in a number of businesses including Virgin Atlantic, Sky News Arabia, Daimler, and English language newspaper, The National.

Sheikh Mansour is an accomplished horse rider. He has won a number of endurance racing tournaments held in the Middle East. He is currently the chairman of the Emirates Horse Racing Authority.
He loves and strongly supports Arabian horse racing which is why he is the patron of the annual Zayed International Half Marathon competition held in Abu Dhabi.
He is also a philanthropist who has established scholarship programs for Emirati students to study abroad.
