Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala appointed as Director General of the World Trade Organization.

Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala becomes the first woman and African to be appointed as the Director General of the World Trade Organization.
The two time Nigerian finance minister has made Nigeria proud worldwide by hitting this mark.

A few of her achievements are as follows: she is the Chair of Board of Gavi, the Global Alliance of Vaccines and Immunization. Since the introduction of this organization in 2000, 580 million children have been immunized.
She was also a Foreign Minister in 2006.
She has spent 25 years building her career in banking and economics.

She has received over ten honorary degrees from various prestigious universities like Yale University, University of Pennsylvania, etc.
She holds an AB in Economics from Harvard University and a PhD in Regional Economics and Development from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT).
