With a population of over 200 million residents, it is expected that Nigeria should have a thriving aviation industry. That is exactly the case as several local airlines are operating within the Nigerian airspace. The airlines featured here are duly licensed to operate in Nigeria.

The Nigerian aviation industry may not be up there yet but it is constantly improving. Flight delays and cancellations are some of the challenges associated with flying in Nigeria. It is expected that these and other problems associated with flying in Nigeria will be fixed soon.

Recently, Air Peace has been in the news for many good reasons. The company provided airplanes to evacuate Nigerians from South Africa during recent Xenophobia attacks in that country. Also, the airline is involved in evacuating Nigerians stranded in different countries as a result of the Coronavirus pandemic. Though privately owned, Air Peace has been approved by the Nigerian government as a national carrier to 5 countries. The countries are the USA, UAE, China, India, and South Africa.

Air Peace was founded in 2013 and operates passenger and charter flights to many Nigerian cities. Currently, Air Peace flies to Lagos, Abuja, Calabar, Enugu, Port-Harcourt, Benin-City, Owerri, and Uyo. Allied Airline

Allied Airline was founded in 1998 and operates as a cargo airline. The airline operates scheduled and charter flights in Nigeria and many other African countries. The major Allied Airline scheduled destinations are Accra, Entebbe, Malabo, Monrovia, and Freetown. The airline also flies regularly to Liege, a city in Belgium.

Arik Air

You most definitely have heard of Arik Air. Arik is one of the top & most popular airlines in Nigeria. The company was established in 2002 and has grown to become a top airline. Arik operates domestic flights within Nigeria and to neighbouring West African countries.

Major Nigerian cities served by Associated Aviation are Abuja, Lagos, Ibadan, Benin, Calabar, and Makurdi. Associated Aviation also flies to the King Abdulaziz International Airport in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia.

Ibom Air

Kabo Air

Kabo Air is a charter airline based at the Mallam Aminu Kano International Airport in Kano. The airline was founded in 1980. Kabo currently does not operate any scheduled flights but is primarily focused on Hajj operations. The airline only has one aircraft, a Boeing 747-400.

Max Air

The airline operates both domestic and international flights. Max Air is actually Nigeria’s longest-serving international airline as it was established in 2008.
