Federal University of Technology Akure (FUTA) is one of Nigeria’s leading public universities. It is located in Akure, the capital of Ondo State in the southwest region of Nigeria. It was established in the year 1981.

FUTA currently has nine Schools or Faculties if you like. They are:

  • School of Science (SOS)
  • School of Earth and Mineral Sciences (SEMS)
  • School of Environmental Technology (SET)
  • School of Engineering and Engineering Technology (SEET)
  • School of Agricultural and Agricultural Technology (SAAT)

It was recently created in 2018 to cater to the needs of departments related to computer science. The school is located in the Obanla campus of FUTA and has five departments under it. They are:

School of Earth and Mineral Sciences (SEMS)

The school is one of the founding schools that made up the University at inception in 1983. It was however disbanded later and its courses transferred to the School of Sciences and School of Engineering and Engineering Technology as a result of reorganization of the University.

School of Engineering and Mines was reestablished again in FUTA in 2003. The school currently has 5 departments under it. They are:

School of Environmental Technology (SET)

School of Agricultural and Agricultural Technology (SAAT)

The School of Agriculture and Agricultural Technology (SAAT) is of the pioneer schools that make up the Federal University of Technology, Akure (FUTA).

It was created in 1982 and has programmes in Agricultural and Natural Resources Management. The following departments are available in the School of Agriculture and Agricultural Technology (SAAT), FUTA.

At the time, it was known as the School of Pure and Applied Science and had just 5 departments. Today, it has 9 departments under it and is the largest School in the university.

Admission Requirements To Study Any Of The Accredited Courses In FUTA

O’Level Subject Combination

Your O’level result must be obtained in a maximum of two sittings. You are required to have at least 5 credit passes in subjects related to your course of interest.

JAMB Subject Combination

Refer to the JAMB brochure for information on the right UTME subject combination to qualify for admission to study the course in FUTA.

The minimum UTME cut off mark for FUTA is 180. If you don’t score up to 180 in UTME, you will not be considered for admission.

Those that scored 180 and above will be invited for another exam set by the school.

FUTA Post-UTME Cut Off Mark

FUTA conducts Post-UTME for candidates that scored 180 and above in the UTME conducted by JAMB.

After the Post-UTME, the University then sets its cut off mark for each subject to determine the candidates that qualify for admission to study each course it offers for that year.
