Born on the 19th of July, 1961, Peter Obi is a great Nigerian businessman and Politician. He hails from Onitsha in Anambra state. Peter Obi is a successful businessman and is today one of the richest men in the South-East. He started doing business as a young man at the age of 9 after the death of his father. He was still a primary school student at the time and he started out buying kerosene on wholesale and then selling to end users in bottles at a profit. His venture into business at this tender age scared his mother who expressed dissatisfaction with the development but he was able to allay her fears by combing his business with his academics and excelling in both. While at Christ the King College for his secondary education, Peter Obi changed his trade to sales of eggs. Much later, he moved on to become a designer of shoes and clothes and subsequently he went into profitable mass production of shoes and clothes. Political Career

It was while he was at Kellogg Graduate School that Obi was influenced by his teacher to venture into politics. He then launched his political career when he contested and won the governorship election in Anambra state in 2006 under the umbrella of APGA. He succeeded in winning reelection for a second term in office despite the many challenges he faced during his first term in office including being impeached and reinstated by the court later. He succeeded in tidying up the finances of the state while in office and was able to cut by on unnecessary spending and wastage of state resources leading to an increase in savings for the state. His activities in office made the state one of the best in the country to do business at that time, attracting investors from far and wide. While he was still in office as Governor, he was appointed a Special Adviser to the President, the first serving Governor to be so appointed in Nigeria. He was also included in the Presidential Economic Management Team. After the completion of his term in office as Governor of Anambra state, Peter Obi moved to the then ruling party PDP and was appointed chairman of the Securities Exchange Commission (Sec). Currently, Peter Obi is the running mate to the Presidential candidate of the PDP in person of Alhaji Atiku Abubakar in the 2019 general elections.
