300-level student of the Department of Agriculture, University of Ilorin, GbengaFavour Olaoye-Akanbi, 19, has committed suicide after he was duped by a Forex trader, Eseka Chuckwutem Gospel (ECG). Olaoye-Akanbi was found dead on December 20, after drinking poison. The deceased was said to have allegedly invested over N300 million belonging to his colleagues and friends in a business run by ECG. A course mate revealed that Gbenga assured them that Forex wasn’t Ponzi scheme, and that he had backup funds to pay everyone that invested; including capital and profits in case anything went wrong. “He later promised to pay everyone’s capital before December. I was surprised to see people posting his pictures with RIP today. Sad, but I have N5 million investment with him,” the course mate said.
